Class Descriptions

Dharma Yoga is a graceful, yet challenging form of yoga based on Sri Dharma Mittra’s almost fifty years of practice of classical yoga. The practice is appropriate for students of all levels, from beginner to lifelong practitioners and accessible to so many because it meets each student where they are and according to their condition. As students move through the different series, they are encouraged to go deeper and experience the practice in a meditative and spiritual way.  dharmayogacenter.com

Open Level:  Class will offer variations to grow your individual practice.  Advanced variations are presented.  All levels are welcome.

Jivamukti Yoga is a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. Jivamukti Yoga classes are rigorous, and the goal of the practice—enlightenment—is remembered throughout by the teacher and student alike.  Jivamukti emphasizes the importance of veganism, environmentalism and political activism as key practices toward the goal.  Jivamukti Yoga teachers are trained in a demanding program that covers these practices, as well as the traditional subjects such as asana practice and yoga philosophy. jivamuktiyoga.com

Restorative Yoga a practice that leads the practitioner toward a more healing and recuperative experience.  It is soothing for the nervous system, helps relieve physical & mental tension, & encourages mindfulness.

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is also known as the Yoga of Awareness; its focus is on self-awareness and delivering an experience of your highest consciousness. In any class, anywhere in the world, you can expect it to include six major components: 1) tuning-in with the Adi Mantra, 2) pranayam or warm-up, 3) kriya, 4) relaxation, 5) meditation and 6) close with the blessing song, “May the Long Time Sun Shine Upon You”.
Kriyas are complete sets of exercises that are performed in the sequences given by the Master, Yogi Bhajan. They can be simple short sequences or they may involve vigorous, even strenuous exercises, and strong breath techniques such as Breath of Fire, which challenge and strengthen the nervous and endocrine systems and test the will of the practitioner beyond the limitations of their ego. http://www.kundaliniresearchinstitute.org

Yin/ Yang Yin represents the feminine aspect of our being: receptive, reflective, introspective, cool like the silver full moon. Yin yoga was developed to penetrate deep into connective tissue expanding flexibility and aiding healing while stimulating the nadis or meridians to loosen energetic blockages and increase energy flow.
Yang, the masculine aspect: outward and upward moving- from where you protect & project, warm like the golden sun. Yang yoga is the more traditional hatha or ashtanga based asana practice that develops muscular strength, stamina, and flexibility.  Yin/Yang Yoga  balances Yin yoga practice for the first half of the class with traditional Yang yoga practices for the second half of the class. This class can provide you with a practice that starts with deep, introspective, and quiet yoga that evolves into an energizing and uplifting yoga that sets you on your way for the rest of your day.

Flow & Let Go integrates dynamic sequencing of postures with movement of the breath to create a flowing yoga practice. It promotes muscle tone and flexibility of the joints, increases cardiovascular and respiratory strength, leaving you feeling calm and centred.

Sunrise invigorates the mind & body.  Begins with gentle breathwork & moves into sun salutes with alignment and core focus.  Learn to love the early morning hours!

Yoga for Athletes is a unique blend of static, facilitated & dynamic stretching.  You will be guided through postures (asana) that will release tension and lengthen the muscles in the body.  Yoga isn't just for the flexible!  All levels are welcome & will benefit from this class.
